3 Animes: For Fans Of Cyberpunk 2077

A few weeks ago CD Project Red finally released the long awaited Cyberpunk 2077, and while receptions for this title has been mixed there is one thing that many people agree on. The world that Cyberpunk 2077's development team has created is like nothing we have ever seen in a video game, but due to the various technical issues littered throughout Night City players were forced to end their journeys before they can even begin.

Which is why we have taken a look back at some of our favorite animes that feature environments, storylines, and themes that would be right at home in Cyberpunk 2077.

Note: Of course this is not an exhaustive list, so do not panic if you do not see your favorite series listed.

Ergo Proxy:

In the distant future the world as we know it will be ravaged by a cataclysm that leaves most of the planet in an inhabitable state, and what remains of humanity is forced to live within the confines of the domed city of Romdeau.

On the surface the populous of Romdeau appears to be living relatively safe and happy lives living under the protection of the city's governing body, but not is all as it seems. For behind the veiled smiles of the citizens of Romdeau are slowly growing fearful and anxious due to a series of brutal murders that have yet to be solved.

Desperate to restore a sense of order the local Regent has enlisted the assistance of inspector Re-L Mayer from the Citizen Information Bureau to begin looking into these murders to find the culprit, and bring them to justice.

Psycho-Pass:

In the 22nd century the nation of Japan has developed a unique system of law enforcement that allows for the constant surveillance of its citizenry in order to better protect its citizens from criminals by apprehending any person that reports an increase to their Psycho-Pass.

Put simply a Psycho-Pass is a combination of various calculations that is able to accurately calculate the mental wellbeing of any individual, and it is used by inspectors and enforcers from the Criminal Investigation Department to remove any citizen that is deemed to be too dangerous or unstable from the general population before they harm themselves or others.

This series follows a young inspector named Akane Tsunemori and an enforcer named Shinya Kogami as they work to together with their team to hunt down a particularly dangerous criminal named Shogo Makishima.

Cowboy Bebop:

If I could describe Cowboy Bebop using a single word I believe the best one to describe it would be cool.

From the moment the series first aired in Japan in 1998 this series has won over the hearts of many long time anime viewers, and it has since become an appealing entry point for those that have never seen a single anime series or movie. The success of Cowboy Bebop is due in no small part to its impressive animations, stellar music, and an assortment of fun and memorable characters.

The main story of Cowboy Bebop follows a bounty hunter named Spike Spiegel as he and his crewmates travel through space trying to scrape together an honest living while attempting to avoid their pasts. Naturally things never seem to go as planned, and the Bebop crew often finds themselves on the run, out gunned, and short on cash.
